Operating from a living room in Amsterdam, the dormant office is an independent research platform dedicated to the study of the structures and forms of affect at play in our techno-capitalist present. The research of the dormant office takes the form of curatorial and editorial projects that actively participate in the ongoing conversations between art, philosophy, and psychoanalysis.
The projects undertaken by the dormant office in 2021 will create space for collective exchange during a time in which physical gatherings are restricted. The projects will be made public through a program of online study groups, public lectures, and publications.
The program aims at bringing together a diverse group of cultural practitioners, theoreticians, psychoanalysts, artists, and the interested public in order to work through urgent topics related to subjectivity, techno-capitalism, and libidinal and political economy.
the dormant office is run by recent graduates who, like many others, are confronted by a precarity accentuated by the pandemic, and a scarcity of cultural spaces that accommodate for discursive explorations and experimentations.
That said, the purpose of the dormant office is to provide this missing space where thought-provoking encounters, collaborations, and discussions between speakers, practitioners, and the public can take place, develop and spread further.
the dormant office invites you to take part in its program and kindly asks you to support its research by subscribing to its Patreon account so that it can sustain and expand its practice. Thank you!
